On October 25, CDC provided its most recent update to the Listeria monocytogenes foodborne illness outbreak linked to cantaloupes from Jensen Farms in Colorado. The key updates provided by CDC were:
- As of 9am EDT on October 24, 2011, a total of 133 persons infected with any of the four outbreak-associated strains of Listeria monocytogenes have been reported to CDC from 26 states.
- Twenty-eight deaths have been reported. In addition, one woman pregnant at the time of illness had a miscarriage.
